Last week, I asked you how satisfied you were with the new Philips Hue app. After all, the big update to version 4.0 was rolled out almost two weeks ago. The result is more than clear from my point of view: Only just under 11 percent of users say that they like the app already since well.

The 86 x 86 millimeter Violet SmartSwitch Lite replaces a single light switch on the wall and requires its own power supply, so a neutral or other power source is needed.
Exactly one week ago, Signify released the big update of the Philips Hue app. Version 4.0 was a big step, over 100 innovations and improvements were integrated according to the developer team. At the same time, however, some extras have been dropped, for example the timers. Others, like the widgets, have been replaced on iOS by shortcuts.

Along with the Wall Switch Module, the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip is one of the most exciting new products in the Hue world to make it to market in recent years. Already in the coming weeks, the light strip will receive new, exciting features. So far, in order to make the seven zones of the light strip glow in different colors, the use of the Hue Sync Box or at least a sync software is necessary.
Since Thursday, the new Philips Hue app is available for iOS and Android. And there is one major criticism, especially among iPhone and iPad users: the previously available Today view widgets have been completely removed from the new Hue app. Why Signify had no other choice, I’ll explain in this article.

Philips Hue has been compatible with Siri Shortcuts for some time now. This is very practical, for example, to be able to switch on and off smart plugs that do not come from Philips Hue via Siri. Unfortunately, creating Siri Shortcuts with certain scenes is not really intuitive so far. Fortunately, Philips Hue will do something about this with the upcoming major update to version 4.0.
I really wouldn’t have expected this a little over a week ago. After it looked really bad for weeks around the availability of the Philips Hue wall switch module, the tide has suddenly turned. Since the weekend, the popular new release, which could only be ordered on a few days since March, is consistently available for order in the German online store of Philips Hue.
So far, Philips Hue has not come up with a smart plug for outdoor use. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be planned in this direction, although I’m happy to be surprised. Until then, however, Hue fans can turn to a new product from Ledvance. The Compact Outdoor Plug is also available with ZigBee technology and can therefore be easily coupled with the Hue Bridge.
